RAF Fairford (the principle American airbase in the UK) got in contact with us to try and come up with a solution to covering their 10 lane bowling alley to maximise the space to also be used as an entertainment space for the stationed personnel there – as it stood the building was obsolete in terms of being used for anything other than bowling.

We surveyed the site over several visits and came up with a bespoke solution which also had to incorporate a way in which the frames would not damage or mark the lanes at all. They wanted a raised section to the rear which then levelled down to cover to the front of the lanes, all boxed in with birch plywood fascia’s and rails all around.

This was our biggest project to date by far – they also wanted the flexibility of opening up the lanes as and when so we had to factor that in the design process. We delivered and set up the complete stage  2) then removed a section of it that they would be keeping up long term.

The team were over the moon once they saw the staging in situ having completely transformed an 18m2 space into a multi-use area.
