Unistage Ltd have helped to stage the way for royalty by providing Salford University with some of our tiered staging for use in MediaCityUK as tiering for seats. MediaCityUK has been described as the brand new and exciting venue bringing them right up to date with the digital age.
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh will be opening the University of Salford building at MediaCityUK during the Queen’s official Diamond Jubilee visit to the North West on 23rd March 2012. This is obviously an extremely prestigious event and the University would like to show off their latest £30million pound investment!
The Salford University building at MediaCityUK is positioned in prime location; it will be next to the studios at MediaCityUK and right underneath the building which is soon going to be home to ITV. These are state of the art facilities featuring only the best products within the market.
Unistage Ltd has been part of the design and manufacturing stage which has helped the university to prepare for the Royal visit. We have supplied a completely bespoke tiered modular staging solution for use by Salford University.
Our staging solution was then packed up, delivered and on arrival we showed them how it all worked and set it up for them. The staging looks really well within MediaCityUK amongst all the state of the art, innovative technology.
The facilities which the university now has within MediaCityUK are unbelievable and will be the envy of many other universities. Already the university has formed close partnerships with business like BT, Adobe and Avid and is using these relationships to develop new courses and research projects. This is going to benefit 1500 students who are carrying out degrees or courses in journalism, animation, film production and professional sound and video as well as a whole range of media orientated courses.
In addition to having a few of the courses within MediaCityUK the Salford Business School full-time MBA course will also be running from the MediaCity campus and this will give an international dimension to choosing to study at Salford University.
Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Phillip expecially have always had a long association with the university. Prince Phillip was the first Chancellor and now as time has moved on he can have the opportunity to see how things have progressed since leaving the post in 1991. He will view the facilities and technology at the new MediaCityUk site.
Firstly he will attend Entitled Decode/Recode, and this is where graphic design and creative technology students at the MediaCityUK campus will be linked to campuses all around the world as part of a 24 hour networked “media jam”. Next the Duke will see students filming a fame show-style programme in one of two of the universities TV studios. Then he will head into the digital performance lab to witness a research project focusing on Salford Quays and Trafford Park. In concluding his visit following the tour of the venue His Royal Highness is then going to open the building officially and in flicking the switch a 3D holographic, animated display of the University’s Logo and other visual representations will be shown.
Dr Adrian Graves, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Salford University, stated: “A royal visit is the ultimate honour and is an example of the way in which our investment at MediaCityUK is attracting interest of the highest order.”
