The Sherborne Abbey Festival, in Dorset, always goes far beyond mere choral and classical music.
This year, guests were treated to some jazz from a very special guest as well as gypsy tango rhythms to get the audiences’ feet tapping.
Leading UK saxophonist Snake Davis played at the festival on the Saturday, May 4. But before that, he led a workshop in the Stuart Centre at Sherborne Girls School.
With our modular staging playing a prominent role throughout the festival, the acts were delighted with Unistage’s products.
Snake Davis said: “It was a pleasure and an honour to play on Unistage staging at Sherborne Abbey Festival this year.”
Snake is currently in demand from the biggest names on the music scene including visiting artists from overseas. As resident saxophonist on “Tonight With Jonathon Ross” he played with the likes of, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Chaka Khan and many more.
He was regularly on TV with the Eurythmics, M-People and B*Witched, presented a Saxophone “Masterclass” programme for ITV and has featured Saxophone and Flute parts for Lisa Stansfield and M-People.
Also at the festival were Dame Joan Bakewell, David Terry, The Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Ensemble, Red Priest, Zum, Yeovilton Military Wives Choir, Sherborne School Swing and Jazz Bands, Sherborne Close Harmony Group and Schola Cantorum – Leweston School.
