Rewards and Recognition – Education Rocks!

Celebrating the best of Lancashire’s teachers, pupils and schools, the Education Rocks awards ceremony will take place this evening at the Beacon Centre, Blackburn College’s state of the art education centre. Excitement is high and everyone concerned is eagerly anticipating this prestigious event.

Lancashire has an incredible amount of talented people and the Education Rocks awards ceremony seeks to honour this. Blackburn College has joined forces with the radio station Rock FM to launch the awards, which will highlight and celebrate the fantastic achievements of the myriad of local people involved in education.

The awards are separated into nine categories: Music Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Teacher of the Year, Pupil of the Year, Overall Secondary School of the year, Sports Achievement of the year, Career Advisor of the Year, Prefect of the Year, Secondary School Headteacher of the Year and Lifetime Achievement for Dedication to Education. A closely-guarded and much-debated secret, the list of winners is hotly awaited by the nominees of the nine categories.

The prizes that the winners of the awards will receive are exciting and informative. Invitation to the awards ceremony will be given to the top three nominees in each category, while the winners of each category will get to experience an exclusive, VIP tour of the Rock FM radio station, meeting presenters and discovering first-hand how Lancashire’s hit music station is run. Every nominee is to receive a star award and certificate while the Overall Secondary School of the Year winners will receive the extra prize of the opportunity to record their own radio show and commercial, including professional copies of the recorded audio to keep.

Ian Clinton, Principal of Blackburn College, is very excited about the forthcoming awards ceremony. “Education Rocks is the perfect way to celebrate education in Lancashire by honouring the very best students, teachers and schools in the region,” he said. Nominations have been pouring in for the various nominees in each category, especially after Mr Clinton’s plea of, “Whether it’s an outstanding pupil who has gone above and beyond what is expected or has overcome adversity to succeed, an inspirational and passionate teacher, or a school that has excelled, we want you to tell us who deserves to be recognised and rewarded. I look forward to seeing an impressive range of entries and I’ve no doubt we will have a tough job ahead of us to pick just one winner in each category”.
