Soulful Sounds - The annual World Saxophone Congress

Unistage often supply our unique staging systems and solutions to organisers of music events.  Music is a constantly popular and universal medium, with events from the village hall concert to the arena spectacular.  Whatever the event, we always aim to provide performers with a strong, safe foundation from which to work.  The stage is the centrepiece of any musical performance and its design and quality can have a great effect on the audience’s pleasure in the work.  Unistage are always excited when we are called upon to provide the perfect staging solution for music events.

A recent musical highlight for Unistage was the 16th annual World Saxophone Congress. This fantastic and unique event was held in St Andrews in Fife, Scotland, and played host to musicians and singers from across the globe. As the variety of performers was so great, the music was eclectic and exciting with something for everybody to enjoy. Audiences flocked to see the huge variety of acts performing at the University concert hall. A venue of palatial proportions, this performance space seats nearly 1000 people. Unistage supplied the multi-level staging on which Tommy Smith performed his work, accompanied by the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. We worked hard to ensure the staging was perfectly tailored to the particular requirements and the final result was very effective, greatly adding to the audience’s enjoyment of the work. We were also immensely proud to be sponsoring Andy Scott to write a brand new concerto which was performed by legendary saxophonist Branford Marsalis at the lavish opening ceremony. Aside from the performance staging, Unistage also provided stands and stages upon which major saxophone suppliers displayed their products.
